http://twitter.com/2XUPaddington. We will be posting updates from our trip on there so be sure to follow us there.........
and more importantly - track me live on Ironman.com!
Follow my progress through the course, with split times, pace, transition, and position information.
At the start of the race you will see a link for the Athlete Tracker under the coverage tab of the Ironman at http://ironman.com/events/ironman/worldchampionship
My race number is #1568
Hawaii is 21 hours behind Australian Daylight Savings time. Race start time is 7am in Hawaii – So for Sydneysiders this means that the race starts at 4am!
Now if you haven’t really followed an Ironman race before its pretty (very) long. If you decided to sleep in on Sunday and turn on the PC at approximately 9am, I should be in the last ¼ of the bike leg. Perfect to sit back and relax before the gruelling marathon with road temperatures usually over 50 degrees!
I qualified in Port Macquarie in the Australian Ironman in April this year in a debut ironman time of 9:19! If I have an absolutely great race I will beat that time by just a little (Hawaii is very different race with the heat and humidity), so just to give you a guide of my target times.
Swim – 60 minutes (or a little slower- Most people swim slower at Hawaii as compared to wetsuits swims and in Port I did 57 min)
Bike-5:15
Run-3 hours
Of course the 2XU Paddington team wishes all athletes competing a safe and successful race.
