Was definitely the hardest session I have had in my Kona training for a number of reasons.
Firstly the weather was absolute Sh*t, plain & Simple. It was windy and the first 2.5 hours were a dust storm too. Because of that there weren't any takers and apart from the 1.5 efforts I can thank Lucas for, it was another Solo mission. On the way home though I met a Brats rider and another bunch to get back through the tunnel.
I was right on for the efforts but the conditions took their toll. Im still full of dust and the eyes are sore. The last 2okm were tough and I was glad to run. Anyway with the run it was garbage, I screwed up my nutrition somewhere and I was blown totally. Although I missed the first couple of reps (forgot to setup the garmin), and the hills I clearly blew out very quickly. If this happens in a couple of weeks the race plan will be finished. Ill need to sort this one out now!
I have to say it was the worst I have felt since the 30km mark in the Port IM were I got the same sensations as I got today - light headed and empty. Saying that it was a solid session and 4 months of quality training are completed tomorrow. Ive nailed every session for 2 months pretty much and am generally strong and on form.
