25th December. Christmas morning Long Run!

Well Marathon training requires not only consistency but a well tailored structured approach based on the individual. The Long Run is key and it has to be completed as a priority within ones weekly training schedule.
If required change the days/sessions around to suit your lifestyle or any prior commitments you may have. This year my Long Run fell on Christmas morning. I was prepared enough to have this planned prior to the Sunday so for me it was just a matter of getting out there and doing it. I was in unfamiliar surroundings so spent a little time prior mapping out where I would run by speaking to some locals. So at 6:30am from Bluey's Beach NSW I headed out on my long run which was scheduled at 2:25 and 33km. Although I didnt feel to crash hot during the run, I had great weather and new places to explore so the time passed quickly by. I managed to complete 34km in 2:20 with an average pace of 4:15, and as prescribed I finished the last 10km or so all sub 4:00 km/min pace. I then spent the rest of the day resting before my second run of 8km in just over 30 minutes. I felt pretty good on this run so it was a nice finish to a solid days training!
