Swim wetsuit. 4*12 min laps end to end . Approx 3.5km
Felt ok swimming, want another solid session prior to IM.
Today's run
Strategy was 4:15 until 21 and than see what felt comfortable, so thats it!
7am start on what is a fairly decent course with some undulating hills. This 2.5km lap course is great training and I will make use of it in the future. It really lets you prepare well for races and there would have been over 200 people running I guess?
Pacing was difficult for me, really 4:15 which is a 3 hour IM marathon target was tough and by around 14-15km I was starting to feel sore and heavy I guess. This didnt ease off really until I pushed the pace for the last 6km. Im sure after the 180km ride though the 4:15 pace will seem much tougher!
Few issues with the stomach and two unscheduled pit stops loosing me some rythem and time. I actually did 30.4km as a marshall went missing on one of the turns and I missed it doing extra running which will distort the overall times/placings a bit but not really fussed.
Perfect weather and great day all round with Brett and Pete! Well done boys and Pete cheers for the lift and fantastic Bacon and Egg roles - I havent stopeed eating all day!
